This section describes how to configure, enable, and disable the
proxy server information for Firefox 2.x. It is best to configure the Web browser to go
through the proxy server using the instructions below and then disable the
settings until the next time you use Temple's wireless network or a public-access laptop Internet port, or the next time you access Temple's library databases. Otherwise, your Internet connection may be slowed down.
1. Click on the Tools menu and select
Options.
2. Click on the Advanced
icon on the upper right portion of the Options window.
3. Click on the on the Network tab.
4. Click on Settings.
5. Click on Manual proxy configuration.
6. In the HTTP Proxy box, type: gate.temple.edu
7. In the associated Port box, type: 8080
8. Click on OK to exit the Connection Settings window.
9. Click on OK to exit the
Options window.
10. Close and restart
Firefox. Now, when connected to the Internet, your Web session will be directed
through Temple's proxy server and
you will be prompted to enter a username and password. Enter your
AccessNet username and password at this prompt.

5. Click on Direct connection to the Internet (Firefox 2.x) or No proxy (Firefox 3.x).

8. Close and restart
