To determine whether you have the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows:

1. Click Start and select Computer.

2. At the top of the window, click System Properties. Sample Screen

3. Under System, look for System type. When finished, close the System Properties window. Sample Screen

Windows XP

To determine whether you have the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows:

1. Right-click on the My Computer icon and select Properties.

If you see Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, then you have the 64-bit version. Otherwise, you have the 32-bit version. The sample screenshot shows the 32-bit version of Windows XP.

2. Click Cancel when you are finished.
