Purchase Recycled Equipment for Departmental Use

The Computer Recycling Center (CRC) offers recycled computers, monitors, and other electronic equipment to Temple University departments at discounted prices.

Who is entitled to this service?

What are the limitations and restrictions related to this service?

To be eligible to connect to Temple's network and to receive support from the Help Desk onsite desktop support, departments must choose computers labeled with the word "Department" after the make and model. Computers that are labeled as "Department" come with a Computer Services' pre-approved software and hardware configuration.

After you receive the equipment, you must submit a Help Desk request through the TUhelp website to have Computer Services set up the machine.

What are the applicable policies or guidelines?

How do I use this service?

To use this service:

  1. Log in to the CRC online store with your AccessNet username and password. Each piece of equipment is listed with make, model, price, and picture. The inventory is updated daily and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you need equipment or parts that is not listed online, contact the Computer Recycling staff for more information.

  2. Place the order online with a valid FOAPAL budget code.

  3. Print the fax sheet that appears at the end of the order. Have this sheet signed by a budget head. Then, fax the completed form to the CRC at 215-204-5734. You will receive an automatic e-mail confirmation when your online order is submitted.

  4. Submit a Help Desk request through the TUhelp website to have Computer Services set up the equipment after the equipment is delivered. In your request, mention that it is a CRC machine.

When your order is ready, the CRC will call you to schedule a time to deliver the equipment to your office location. Computer Recycling is not responsible for setting up the equipment.

The total cost of your purchase will be debited from your FOAPAL account (7434 Recycle Fee) after delivery.

What are the requirements for using this service?

You must:

  • Have an AccessNet username and password.
  • Use the purchase for university-related functions.
  • Be a Temple employee who can obtain a Budget Unit Head signature.
  • Have funds available to pay for the order with a proper FOAPAL budget code. Computer Recycling will process the Journal Entry Transfer.

What is the time frame for fulfillment of service?

In most cases, the CRC will retest and deliver the equipment within seven business days after receiving the fax that contains the budget head signature.

When is this service available for use?

The online store is available 24 hours a day throughout the year unless otherwise posted or during periods of system, network, or electrical maintenance.

CRC delivers the equipment, however, pickup service is available by appointment only. General hours are Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Note that appointments can sometimes be scheduled earlier or later than posted hours.

What is the cost of this service?

The cost of each piece of refurbished equipment is individually priced and is listed in the CRC online store.

How do I request this service?

To view and purchase equipment, log in to the online store with your AccessNet username and password. If you have a request for items not listed, parts, or larger quantities of items, contact Computer Recycling at 215-2044749.

To request the setup of a recycled computer in your department, submit a Help Desk request through the TUhelp website.

How do I obtain help with requesting this service?
