Purchase Software for Use on Temple-Owned Equipment
Computer Business Services coordinates the University activities related to the acquisition of computer software products and manages the associated budgeting, negotiating, and record keeping functions.
To obtain software, submit a Purchase Requisition in TUmarketplace. If you do not have access to TUMarketplace, contact your department Business Manager.
Computer Business Services can advise on the best method to acquire a product, available alternatives, and existing software site licensing programs. In addition, Computer Business Services determines if a product is a sole source and if a request must be put out to bid due to the size of purchase and available sources.
Adobe and Microsoft desktop and server software products are ordered through TUmarketplace from the punch-out vendor Software House International (SHI).
Apple software products are ordered through TUmarketplace from the Apple store.
SAS and SPSS software products are ordered through TUmarketplace from the Computer Business Services catalog.
Microsoft Office for Mac and Windows, which includes Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word, is covered for use on all Temple-owned computers under our Microsoft Campus Agreement. No separate purchase is required. To have Office or a Windows upgrade installed, contact your Department or College IT support staff or submit a request through TUhelp.
Some additional third party desktop software products can be ordered from the TUmarketplace vendors—CDW-G and GovConnection. If you cannot find a particular software package in TUmarketplace, contact Computer Business Services at 215-204-6700 (1-6700) or software@temple.edu.

To order software for which Temple has no site license or purchase program, contact Computer Business Services at 215-204-6700 (1-6700) or software@temple.edu for assistance with securing a price quote. If you have a price quote, however, you can submit a non-catalog requisition through TUmarketplace.

- Purchaser must be a Temple University employee with access to TUmarketplace.
- Software must be for University use only. This service is not available for personal purchase or use.

What are the requirements for using this service?
Any Temple University employee can request assistance with software purchase requirements. To submit a software requisition, however, you must have access to TUmarketplace.
What is the time frame for fulfillment of service?
The following table identifies the software products and the time frames for processing, acknowledging, and fulfilling TUmarketplace orders.

Note: Requests for software that require a signed agreement/contract must be sent to University Counsel prior to order processing. For requests that require University Counsel review, the timeline for processing may exceed five business days.
When is this service available for use?
TUmarketplace is available 24 hours a day throughout the year except during periods of system, network, or electrical maintenance.
Assistance is available Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

There is no cost associated with this service.
