Personal Computer Loan Program: Due to the rapid approach of fiscal year end, Computer Business Services will be putting a temporary hold on our part in processing orders through the Computer Loan Program. The hold will begin on May 1st and end on June 30th. In the meantime, Employees do have the option of purchasing computer equipment using their personal credit card and being reimbursed by the University for monthly payroll deduction. SOMA Maintenance Contract Renewals: Renewal notices for Maintenance Contracts will be distributed the week of April 28th. This year, the deadline to have e your workflow request for a SOMA Contract for the 2008-2009 fiscal year will be May 30th.
For Departments: All requests for 2007-2008 Fiscal Year purchases must be received by April 30th for guaranteed ordering and receipt by fiscal year end! If you need assistance with quotes or documentation, call Computer Business Services at 215-204-5000.

More Leopard News! You or your office may already be eligible for an upgrade to Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard. If your department submitted a request for an Apple system after October 1st OR if the Apple Maintenance Program (AMP) was purchased with your Tiger OS, Apple will be sending you a copy of Leopard. Apple is distributing one (1) copy of media per order. If your department requires more than one copy, the additional media price is $15.

Leopard is coming! Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard, the new Operating System being offered by Apple, will be released on Friday, October 26th. The cost of the software will be $69. To obtain a copy of Leopard, departments can either submit a request through Workflow or purchase the software using their PCard.
SOMA can now provide Dell Warranty work. If your Dell system is in warranty and you are having problems, a SOMA tech can be dispatched for service. Adobe Upgrade Plans (Maintenance) purchased between September 2005 and August 2007 are eligible for an extension. Our renewed Adobe Contractual License Program expires August 31, 2009. Dell Hardware Updates: Dell has replaced the Optiplex 745 with the Optiplex 755, the Latitude D620 with the Latitude D630 and the Latitude D820 with the Latitude D830. If you have already submitted a request for one of the replaced configurations, someone from Computer Business Services will be contacting you with information about a replacement for your system.

New Microsoft Software Assurance Available: The new Select Agreement entitles end users to free upgrades for thier products through the contract term ending April 30, 2010 as long as Software Assurance has been purchased for their product. Software Assurance must be acquired with the purchase of a license.
