topOnce an order has been placed, how long will it take before I receive my computer system?

Manufacturers typically quote a two-week lead time from the date they receive the order.

top What is the difference between RAM and a Hard Drive?

Random Access Memory (RAM) is memory that is an active area, which temporarily stores information that is currently being utilized by the computer user. Information stored in RAM is purged when the computer is shutdown. A hard drive is an area of permanent magnetic storage. Application software and data files are stored there for access when needed. This information remains on the hard drive even when the computer is shutdown.

top How do I know how much RAM I need in my computer?

Computer Business Services recommends 1GB RAM to accomidate the Microsoft Vista Operating System once it becomes available on campus. If you are utilizing graphic or mathematical intensive applications, then we recommend you purchase at least 2GB RAM. Manufacturers provide the minimum hardware requirements to run their software on the shrink-wrap package. To obtain this information for software products through Temple University's Software Site Licensing program please go to the Software Site License page and follow the links to the manufacturer's website.

A flat panel display is similar to a very high quality notebook display and therefore maximizes your workspace area. Several companies including Dell, Gateway, Hewlett-Packard, IBM and Micron manufacture computers utilizing the Windows operating systems. The Intel processor in these computers are CISC (Complex Instruction Set Computing) based.
