Temple University currently participates in the Microsoft Academic Select 6.1 and Campus 3.4 Agreements.

The Academic Select Agreement is a flexible, volume-based program designed to reduce the total cost of software ownership.  Academic Select 6.1 makes it easy to acquire licenses for Microsoft products such as Visio, Project, Windows Server and SQL Server on an ongoing basis.  Temple University's Academic Select 6.1 contract term is valid from May 1, 2007 through April 30, 2010.  Licenses acquired under the Academic Select Agreement are perpetual (no renewal required). 

The Microsoft Campus Agreement licenses the Microsoft Operating Systems and Office Suites on a subscription basis.  Temple University's current agreement runs from June 1, 2007 through May 31, 2010.  The Campus Agreement covers all Temple University Faculty and Staff computers as well as all University owned computer labs for the following products:

                - Office 2003 Professional, Office Enterprise 2007(now being deployed)
                - Windows XP Professional Upgrades

                - Windows Vista Enterprise Upgrades
                - Office Professional 2004 for Mac

                - Office for Mac 2008
                - Windows, Exchange, Sharepoint & SMS Client Access Licenses

The software and pricing listed on this page is available for Temple University Faculty and Staff only.  Students and Faculty/Staff/Administration who would like to acquire software for non-work related purposes may purchase products at a reduced rate under Temple's Select 6 Enrollment from the Academic Reseller Journey Ed

The Terms and Conditions contained in the
Academic Select 6.1 and Campus 3.4 Agreement contain the high level guidelines for the use of the Microsoft products deployed at Temple.

topPricing and Products

The Microsoft Operating Systems and Office Suites are provided at no additional chargeThe one-time $90.00 Tech Fee added to each new computer purchase covers the licensing fees.

Microsoft Select Software is priced both as License only and License with Software Assurance (guarantees product upgrades through April 30, 2010).  We strongly recommend purchasing License with Software Assurance with products released prior to this year, such as SQL Server 2005, to ensure free upgrades to new product releases.

topHow to Order

If your department would like to purchase Microsoft Select software products, please follow the procedure outlined below. Failure to comply with this procedure could delay the processing of your workflow requisition.

1. Complete a Temple University Workflow Requisition (Ultimus):

  • Include deliver to name, full address with room number, telephone number, and obtain appropriate approvals for the designated cost center (the account code for software is 7201)
  • Provide complete information in the product description area of the requisition, including product name, CD/DVDs (if needed), Operating System (i.e., Windows, Mac, Linux), quantities, and prices. 

2. Complete a Software Site License Agreement. 

Be sure to enter the requisition number on the license agreement form (below).  After completing the form, sign and either attach as a file to the Ultimus requisition or fax to 1-3739 (215-204-3739). 

topUpgrade Options

Microsoft Software Assurance provides access to version upgrades for product purchased with the Software Assurance option under the Select agreement throughout the term of the agreement which runs until April 30, 2010.
