Frequently Asked Questions for Card Reader Users

Where can I order more receipt paper and printer ribbon supplies for my Ithaca receipt printer?

Contact the Diamond Dollars office or Ithaca Peripherals at 1-877-7ITHACA or on the web at: http://www.ithacaperipherals.com/supplies/vindex.htm

My card reader has an asterisk and the letter E or a number in the upper right hand corner of the display and balances aren't showing for cardholders account. I also noticed the reader displays 'transaction accepted' instead of the normal 'transaction valid'. What caused these things to happen?

Your card reader is not communicating with the access card system central server for authentication of transactions. Follow these steps to find the source of the problem:
1. Make sure the network wire is plugged into the jack labeled 'network' on the reader and the other end of the wire is plugged into the correct HARCO jack on the wall.
2. Are all of the readers in that area off-line or just one? If they are all off-line, the access card server may be unavailable due to maintenance. Check the access card status page at: http://www.temple.edu/cs/administrative/status.asp
3. If the access card system status page notes that the system is up, contact Administrative Computer Services to let them know access card communications seem to be unavailable in your building.

I keep getting an error light on my receipt printer. How can I avoid this?

1. Check to make sure you have ample receipt paper.
2. Remove the printer cartridge and make sure the ribbon spool turns freely and then firmly reset the cartridge into the printer.
3. Check the rail that the print cartridge rides along for missing teeth. Contact Administrative Computer Services to swap the printer if this is the problem.
4. If you still can't identify the problem or the printer has no power and the power cord is plugged in with the printer turned on, contact Administrative Computer Services to swap your printer.

The cash drawer for my card reader doesn't open after I tender a cash sale or do a register reset. How can I fix this?

1. Check to make sure that the cash drawer is plugged into the 'Drawer' jack on the back of the card reader.
2. If you here the drawer clicking but not opening, make sure that no one locked the cash drawer.
3. Hit 'Special Function' and then '1','2' and 'Enter' to turn drawer compulsion 'On'.
4. If none of the above work, contact Administrative Computer Services to swap your cash drawer.
