Over the summer, Computer Services has been working on a number of major
initiatives to improve services. Three of these projects are complete
and ready for you to use.
TUportal
Using Temple's computer resources is now easier than ever. A new
website, TUportal, developed especially for students, opens the window
to a number of familiar services and resources. When you log in to the
site with your AccessNet username and password, you have access to
TUmail, Blackboard, OWLnet, Diamond Dollars, housing information, and
your entry in the Cherry & White Pages. TUportal also includes
University news items and links, as well as a special "My Portal"
section for you to personalize.
To access TUportal, go to:
http://tuportal.temple.edu
If you need an AccessNet username and password, go to:
http://accounts.temple.edu
Blackboard 6
The Blackboard system has been upgraded with the purchase of new and
powerful servers and the installation of the latest version of the
software, Blackboard 6. This new software release offers over 200 new
features, many developed from suggestions by the Temple community.
Instructor assignment features have been enhanced, chat choices have
been expanded, the viewing area in the course navigation section has
been enlarged, and more. You can access your Blackboard 6 account
through the tuportal.temple.edu website.
Replacement of PPP Login with AccessNet Account
Information
Over the past several years, Computer Services assigned students a
special PPP username and password to access network resources. These
PPP accounts are being phased out. Resources requiring that you log in
using your PPP account information will now accept your AccessNet
username and password. In other words, you can access Temple's network
resources, such as the computers in campus labs, the library databases,
and the PPP dial-in lines using your AccessNet username and password
instead of your PPP account information. After August 1st, PPP login
usage will be totally phased out.
Computer Services introduced these new projects over the summer so
system features could be tweaked and performance monitored. On a daily
basis, consultants review response time and resolve the types of issues
that often arise with the implementation of any new system. If you
experience any difficulty using these new resources, please call the
Computer Services Help Desk at 215-204-8000 or send e-mail to
help@temple.edu.
We hope you find these new enhancements helpful. Have a great summer!
