Meera Nair received an M.A. in fiction in 1999. The title of her thesis was The Lodger in Room 726. Her collection of stories, Video, was published in hardcover by Pantheon in 2002. The paperback edition was published by Anchor Books in 2003. Video was the winner of the 2003 Asian American Literary award and named Best Book of 2002 by the Washington Post. It was also awarded the Kiriyama Prize for Notable Books. She has received a grant from the New York Foundation on the Arts, and has been a writing fellow at the MacDowell Colony.
