Lisa Borders received her Masters in fiction in 1990. Her thesis was titled Women Without Men. Her novel Cloud Cuckoo Land (River City Publishing, 2002) was the winner of the Massachusetts Book Award. Her short fiction has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and has appeared in Black Warrior Review, Painted Bride Quarterly, Washington Square and many other journals. She has received grants from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and residencies at Hedgebrook and the Blue Mountain Center. She lives in Somerville, Massachusetts, where she teaches creative writing and works as a cytotechnologist. You can find more information about her work at lisaborders.com.
