- The sixteen month Jewelry Making and Repair at North Bennet Street School
emphasizes fabrication repair and stone setting techniques. This course is designed to
graduate the competent jewelers who have a thorough understanding of the characteristics
of metal and stones and have the skills to create and repair jewelry. Assigned projects
focus on making traditional forms of jewelry from flat and wire stock. This requires the
use of all techniques of metal forming, soldering and finishing also used in repair work.
Graduates of this course are initially employed in trade and retail shops working in
various aspects of the trade such as repair of fine jewelry custom design and fabrication
and stone setting.
- Philosophy: North Bennet Street School has been training
people for employment since 1885. It pioneered the concept of intensive instruction in a
classroom/shop settingfor the sole purpose of learning a trade. Our fundamental mission
remains to train people to go to work and earn a living in their field of training.
