BIOGRAPHY:



Michael Croft



Croft received his B.F.A. degree from University of New Mexico, Albuquerque in 1963 and his M.F.A. from University of Southern Illinois at Carbondale in 1965. He taught at University of Arizona, Tucson.

Croft held numerous administrative positions within universities in addition to teaching jewelry and metalsmithing. Croft is a member of the Society of North American Goldsmiths. He served as President of SNAG from 1987 to 1988 and 1985 to 1987. He was President Elect in 1984 to 1985 and also was production coordinator of Metalsmith Magazine from 1982 to 1985. Croft directed and hosted an annual SNAG conference in 1980. He also was director of Copper 2 in 1980; an exhibition featuring metalsmiths working with copper based metals. Croft directed Copper, Brass and Bronze National Competitive exhibition at the University of Arizona Museum of Art in 1977.

Croft was awarded numerous grants including a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. His work is shown in several publications and is represented in many permanent collections. He served on panels for conferences and as a juror for numerous shows.
