Core Competencies for Public Health Workers
This online course provides an introduction to the basic emergency preparedness core competencies for all public health workers. It is sponsored by the Center for Public Health Preparedness, Columbia University. The course is designed to be taken in two parts. Part 1 is an online presentation of the material. Part 2 is for practice, and then demonstration of the competencies. After completing Part 2, you will have the opportunity to receive a certificate of completion from the Center. Part 1 will take 1-2 hours to complete online. Part 2 can be completed at work in 1 - 2 days
Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication Online Workshop
Web course developed from a Michigan Department of Community Health Office of Public Health Preparedness (OPHP) one and a half-day Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication training (July,2003) for public health emergency preparedness coordinators, health officers, medical directors, and public information officers. Barbara Reynolds, M.A., an expert on this topic at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, led the training. The purpose of this course is to introduce the participant to communication principles and tools critical to successful communication during a public health emergency
