Competencies in the database pertain to the following groups of professionals (functional categories) that are most likely to respond in the event of a natural or man-made emergency:
- Physicians (General/Internal Medicine Practitioners, Infectious Disease Specialists, Medical Examiners, and Psychiatrists

Pennsylvania Emergency Preparedness Competency Mapping Project represents a collaboration of The PA Dept. of Health Office of Public Health Preparedness and Temple University Department of Public Health. This project was funded under an agreement with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
