Assessing Corporate Readiness

This project assesses emergency/disaster response strategies within corporate settings. The goal is to create a knowledge system that supports the sharing of best practices and experiences related to corporate security/safety, communication channel distribution during crisis periods, human resource management issues, and strategies for responding to employee mental trauma.

Recent Accomplishments :

    1. Completed electronic survey of 200 hotels, motels and Inns in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.
    2. Completed three key informant surveys of leading insurance providers.
    3. Completed an assessment of marketing opportunities for the eSMART online resources.
    4. Based on the surveys, the team also developed perceptual maps of risk and crisis assessment for the greater Philadelphia tourism (lodging) industry.
    5. Business Case Strategy for Tourism Industry Security and Safety Readiness Report was completed.
    6. Development of “KNOW risk”, a knowledge-based risk management system for the hospitality and tourism organizations. Major components of the system have been designed based on architecture of knowledge management concepts.
    7. The survey process helped recognize and initiate collaborations with major players in the local risk management industry as well as tourism and hospitality associations such as Pennsylvania Tourism & Lodging Association (PTLA) and American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA). The project has generated interest among local organizations and some have given their initial approval to participate and promote the ideas.
