OBJECTIVES AND AIMS
Objectives
1. As a multidisciplinary center of excellence, we aim to build the evidence base for effective practice in emergency preparedness and response for government agencies, the private sector, and the public.
2. To utilize pilot project data to secure support from federal sources, from state and local contracts, and from private foundations.
3. To collaborate with local, regional, state, and national agencies involved in emergency preparedness
Specific Aims
1. Build infrastructure for internal collaboration among Temple researchers and for partnerships with local, regional, and national emergency response agencies.
2. Create model protocols and training curriculums for specific worksites designed to address trauma related stress
2. Conduct risk communication research on communication messages and pathways that are critical to disseminating public prepardness strategies and plans to both emergency personnel and the public.
3. Conduct organizational research to create effective policies and practices in private businesses, emergency response systems, and community based organizations that will minimize negative health outcomes associated with emergency events, both among response personnel and the public they encounter.
5. Conduct basic scientific research that will have impact on biomedical response initiatives.
6. Develop risk communication messages and strategies for specific disaster related concerns.
