Chad Thomas currently works as Project Coordinator for C-PREP and as an adjunct instructor for the Temple University Department of Public Health. His work experience includes 15 years as an HIV/AIDS educator, over two years as a Peace Corps / Crisis Corps Volunteer in rural Honduras and urban Venezuela, three years as a Disease Intervention Specialist in HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis, chair and grant co-author for the central-Ohio Latino Empowerment Outreach Network (LEON), and a variety of research activities. His current areas of professional development include Web browser-based interface design, GIS mapping, curriculum development, medical interpretation, and disaster preparedness training. He recently attended both English and Spanish versions of the Be Red Cross Ready train-the-trainer program, as well as the Philadelphia Department of Health Point of Dispensing Training for Bilingual Volunteers.

SPAR-GIS Special Needs Populations Assessment and Mapping project (PA DOH - Spring 08)

Disaster Preparedness Training for Community Leaders Pilot

Pennsylvania Emergency Preparedness Competency Mapping Project includes an innovative Access database of over 135 public health emergency preparedness competencies for health professionals and first responders that can be searched using a simple triangulation approach. The Web-browser based CD-ROM includes an introduction to competencies, how to use the database, ideas for finding competency-based trainings, and contact information.
Issues in Emergency Preparedness: Resources for Educators is a Web-browser-based CD-ROM containing emergency preparedness curriculum development tools, video and PowerPoint presentations, checklists, and additional Web resources developed by C-PREP, participating area Health Education Centers, and the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Emergency preparedness topics include all-hazards preparedness, pandemic influenza preparedness, emergency communication, special populations, disability issues, mental health issues, and Pennsylvania resources.

Accessible Emergency Preparedness for Persons with Physical Disabilities is a PowerPoint-based learning module, included in the Issues in Emergency Preparedness CD-ROM, which will soon be included in the online PA Prepared Learning Management System (operated by the Pennsylvania Department of Health Office of Public Health
