Duplicating Services

Frequently Asked Questions

Duplicating Services provides basic photo-copying services to faculty, students and staff.

Departments use Duplicating Services requisitions for the production of jobs through any copy center.

What provisions are made for confidential documents?

Confidential documents, especially examinations, are secured in locked cabinets before and after production. In order to maintain the security of these documents, we ask that you give examinations directly to the operator in charge of the copy center. We also ask that the professor or an assigned staff person pick up the examination when complete. Students working in the copy centers are not permitted to handle examinations.

Is personal copying permitted at the Copy Centers as well as Temple related copies?

YES. Copying services are available to everyone at the university at the Copy Centers. Diamond Dollar cards may be used in any Duplicating Services copier.

How do we pay for personal copies?

The "retail" operations accept cash or credit card.

Can non-Temple copies be made on university copiers?

Using your OWL card with Diamond Dollars, Temple faculty, students and staff can use the copiers in the Copy Centers for their personal copying needs.

Are there any color copiers available at the Copy Centers?

Yes. The Conwell Copy Center can accommodate limited copying of color documents while you wait. Larger volume color copying does require more time, so allow enough time in planning a project.

Are there any restrictions on using the walk-up copiers?

Any number of copies can be made using the walk-up copiers. Be mindful of two factors in choosing to make you own copies: (1) using a departmental requisition all copies over 100 per original are billed at a lower rate than the walk-up copier's system; and, (2) your time and the time of anyone waiting to use the copier after you is being taken up by the time spent making copies. Planning for a few hours for the copying and using the requisition process allows you to have the operators do the copying for you and may save departmental funds.

How soon can I get my job after delivering it to a copy center?

Turnaround times for a project can be as brief as one hour, however, depending on the job size and complexity, a project could take up to 48 hours or more to complete. These times vary from copy center to copy center, and fluctuate with the academic calendar, time of day or day of the week. The best way to ensure timely production of your work is to contact the copy center operator or supervisor. Remember, we will evaluate the project based on the current work loads and your indication as to the time predicted for receipt of the project. That is, if a project is predicted to be given to us before 10:00 am, but the job is not received until 12:30 pm, the turnaround time offered may not be possible. This is due to the "current workload" condition which may change. All work is produced on a first in, first out basis.
