Account Key
General ledger (GL:M) accumulates financial and statistical data
in Master File records that are accessed by the Account Key (key). All transactions
must use this key.

The key consists of three components: |

Corporation Code |
At the present time there is only one Corporation Code
- 800 Temple University |
|
|
|
Account Code |
The account code is a method of grouping the individual
transactions into certain classifications.
The account code consists of four numeric characters where
the first digit represents a specific type of the account
by providing major balance sheet classification and revenue
and expense groupings.
The Account classifications are as follows:

Each subsequent digit within the account code (digits two through four) will further define
the nature or purpose of the account by providing major balance sheet classifications and revenue and expense
groupings.

Center Code |
The center is the lowest level of responsibility. It
accumulates all account activity for the responsibility unit. There are three levels of intelligence
built into the Center Code: |

Net Asset Category |
The first two digits of the center identify the funding source of
the center and is classified by the financial reporting requirements. |
|
Stewardship |
The middle four digits identify the department responsibility
for the management of the center. |
|
Identifier |
The identifier portion is available to further define the
uniqueness of the center. Its meaning may vary depending on net asset category. |
