Controller's Office - General Accounting

The General Accounting Department at Temple is responsible for the recording, analyzing and reporting of financial transactions of Temple University. Through the development and maintenance of procedures and controls, we ensure that these transactions are made in conformity with Temple University policies and are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the accounting guidelines established by the National Association of College and University Business Officers.

Our accounting systems are mainframe based (MVS/CICS) and include a number of vendor supplied apps, such as GL, AP and PO (DBS) and Payroll (Integral), as well as internally developed apps, such as Grant Accounting. We actively use several reporting tools, including Millennium Query, ViewPrint and DRW, and we have developed custom PC-based accounting tools, such as PCJet. Note: New Account codes for Computers & Peripherals
There is a need to distinguish between capital and non-capital computers & computer peripherals. Please use account code 7218 for purchases of computers under $2,500 & account code 7875 for computers over $2,500. Also, please use account code 7217 for purchases of peripherals under $2,500 & 7874 for peripherals over $2,500.
