Information for Visiting Students

Advising

Meeting with a Continuing Education advisor is not required of visiting students; however, we encourage you to complete the Continuing Education Visiting Student Online Orientation and contact an advisor with any questions.

Prior to their enrollment, students may be required to take one or more University placement tests (some students with college credits may be exempt from this requirement). A Continuing Education advisor can provide a schedule of placement exam dates. More information about the placement exams can be obtained through the Measurement and Research Center website.

Please note, visiting students interested in enrolling in Tyler School of Art undergraduate courses must obtain permission to do so.  Also, registration for Tyler classes cannot be processed until the first week of the semester.  Please contact Brigitte Knowles, Senior Associate Dean, Tyler School of Art for further information: 215.777.9197 bknowles@temple.edu.

Registration

Registration and schedule revision services are available through the Main Campus Office of Continuing Education. In order for Continuing Education to process your registration request, we must receive the following three items:
  1. Statistical Record for New and Returning Students
  2. Visiting Student Registration Form, (including permission from the home institution)
  3. Academic transcripts (official or unofficial) from all post-secondary institutions attended (required as evidence of our minimum 2.00 GPA standard and to determine any necessary pre-requisite courses completed)

We cannot process your registration request until we have received ALL items. All application materials must be received by the first day of the semester in which you are intending to take coursework. Information may be submitted in person, by mail or by fax to 215-204-2516.

Billing

Billing is handled electronically at the University and requires access to a Temple email account (TUmail) and OWLnet, Temple's interactive web-based student system. Please see the Bursar's Office website for further details, including current tuition rates, the billing schedule, and answers to other billing FAQ's.

To gain access to TUmail and OWLnet, see Computer Services to set up an AccessNet account (directions appear under the "Students" section).

If you have any questions regarding financial aid, please contact Student Financial Services at 215-204-2244.

Support Services

Visiting students are eligible to receive a Temple University identification (ID) card 24 hours after completing the initial registration through the Diamond Dollars office. This card enables visiting students to access University buildings, support services and programs in the same way that matriculated Temple University students do. These services include academic and personal counseling, tutorial services in mathematics and writing, in addition to many others. The Main Campus Office of Continuing Education can provide further information on specific services. Please also see Other Services.

Financial Aid

For information and instructions, visiting students should contact the financial aid office at their home schools and Temple University's office of Student Financial Services. At Temple, please call (215) 204-2244.

Transcripts/Transfer of Credits to Home Institutions

The University will not send a transcript to home institutions automatically. Upon completion of the course(s) visiting students should contact the Office of the Academic Records (2nd floor, Conwell Hall, 215-204-1131) in order to request an official transcript.
