Below are some of the programs that are run through the Office of Community Service. Student Organizations Housed in the Office of Community Service
Each of these organizations is led by student Executive Boards, and is advised by the Assistant Director for Community Service. Working collaboratively, we strive to offer diverse programming to meet needs throughout the Greater Philadelphia area.
Temple University Community Service Association
The Temple University Community Service Association (TUCSA) meets weekly to coordinate and execute community service programs throughout the semester. Click here for more information!

Residential Organization for Community Service
The Residential Organization for Community Service (ROCS) is a Themed Living Community. Incoming freshman can choose to live in community with other students who have a commitment to service. |
Habitat for Humanity - Temple Chapter
The Temple Chapter of Habitat for Humanity works with local affiliates to educate others about poverty and substandard housing, and also works on the construction of new homes. |

Alternative Break Trips
We offer both Alternative Winter and Spring Break Service Immersion Trips. These programs offer students the opportunity to spend their break immersed in another culture while serving.
Winter Break: Project Mexico December 16-22, 2007 Spend 1 week learning about the complexities of the US/Mexico border while serving in local communities.

Winter Break: Discovery Monkey Bay January 6-12, 2008 Spend 1 week working in Belize, Central America learning about the social/economical and environmental issues of Belize while serving in local communities. |
Spring Break: Share Guatemala March 8th – 14th, 2007. |

Local Community Service
The Office of Community Service meets regularly with local residents and community leaders to identify the need of our immediate neighbors. We work collaboratively with those neighbors to address their needs. While these programs are often created case by case, below are some ongoing projects in our local communities.
Community Clean-ups
On a regular basis, Temple students, staff, faculty and administration team up to clean up! |
Snow Shoveling Project
Temple students, staff and faculty shovel and salt the walks at the homes of local senior citizens when there is 3 or more inches of snow. |
Sonia Sanchez Garden
Temple students and staff work local residents creating and maintaining the Sonia Sanchez Garden at Carlisle and Diamond Streets.

Summer Service Opportunities
Summer Equestrian Program Volunteer at the Temple Police's Summer Equestrian Program for local youth! No experience with horses needed! |
