Greater Philadelphia Food Bank Habitat for Humanity This organization attempts to end poverty through awareness and providing a safe place for impoverished families to live. Volunteers are needed to raise funds, build homes and educate their communities. Mercy Hospice Helps women and children without permanent housing find opportunities for new beginnings. This organizations help women with education and social services in addition to shelter. Philabundance Works to end hunger by using surplus food to be distributed it to local organization serving people in need. Philadelphia Futures Prepares students from low-income families to enter college through providing mentoring, academic enrichment and financial incentives. Philadelphia Committee to End Homelessness Volunteers participate in a variety of activities including brining information and help people living in the streets. Volunteers can work at a variety of centers as well as the office. Project HOME Mission is to provide permanent solutions to homelessness and poverty through housing, education, employment health care, and the revitalization of a low-income community. SHARE (Self Help and Resource Exchange) Food Program Inc. Empowers people through providing resources and technology t build and support self-sustaining community institutions.
Volunteers work with homeless young people, as well as provide pregnancy and maternity services. Volunteers participate in fundraising as well as a variety of community service events. Voyage House Provides temporary shelter for young people. Volunteers work with students in a variety of projects. Wheels of Wellness Provides non-emergency transportation for those unable to receive it themselves because of the lack of financial resources. Return to Community Organizations Page |
