Temple Police Summer Equestrian Program
Volunteers and Paid Interns Needed!!!
Did you Know? Each summer, Temple Police work with the Bill Picket Riding Academy to offer free Equestrian Camps to kids from age 7 to 17 from the North Philadelphia communities. These camps run in 2 week sessions (4 sessions offered) and are free of charge to the participants.
Participants learn how to groom and care for the horses, how to ride, how to read the horses body language, and most important - how to work as a team!
The camp takes place Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 3:30 pm at the Belmont Stables on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. Transportation is available from the Campus Police Headquarters on Main Campus (Montgomery Avenue between 11th and 12th Streets)
INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES: There are a limited number of paid internship opportunities available. Interns would work with the professional staff to help facilitate the camp. They would work directly with both the camp participants and the horses to and be responsible for helping to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment. Interns would be expected to work Monday through Friday for the duration of the camp (eight weeks). For information on Internship Opportunities, contact Captain Eileen Bradley at the Temple Police Department. E-mail: eileen.bradley@temple.edu
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Volunteers are always welcome to help with the Equestrian Camp. Volunteers are needed to help coordinate daily activities, care for the horses, and help maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for the camp participants. For more information on volunteering with the Summer Equestrian Program, please contact Jason J. Riley, the Director for Temple Volunteers. E-mail: rileyj@temple.edu
