The University Commencement Ceremony
Temple University's 121st Commencement Exercises will be held on Thursday, May 22nd at 10:00am.
Guests of the graduates will need a ticket to enter the Liacouras Center. Seating is limited and all requests for tickets can not be fulfilled. Commencement Exercises will be available live on the web for those who are not able to join us in the Liacouras Center.
The Ceremony
The academic procession will move as directed by the University marshals who will be wearing red academic gowns. Graduates will march into the arena with their colleges and, upon reaching their seats, turn and face the aisle until the faculty procession has passed their seat row. Graduates will remain standing until after the National Anthem.
When your Dean presents the candidates for your degree, you will rise and remain standing until the President has conferred your degree. You may tip your cap in response to the President's salute, then tassels are moved from right side to left.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, please remain standing after the Alma Mater and encourage your guests to remain at their seats until the faculty procession has left the arena. You may then follow the faculty in an orderly procession.
To alleviate congestion in front of The Liacouras Center, we recommend that you arrange to meet your guests at other pre-determined sites on campus. Look for the balloon arches on campus for a photo opportunity.
