Schedule of Courses to Be Offered in
The Department of Greek, Hebrew and Roman Classics
![]()
Since an increasing number of students are asking what courses will be taught when, we thought it might be helpful for you to have some idea of how to plan your future terms at Temple. Some semesters we will offer additional courses, depending on faculty availability. Course descriptions are available
Courses in the original languages
Introductory courses in Ancient Greek and Latin are offered every year, in both the fall and the spring semesters; Latin 51 is usually also offered in the Summer. The second year of each language, when students read authors such as Plato, Homer and Vergil, are also available annually, with upper level courses offered every time there is sufficient student interest.
Summer Study: We usually offer Classical Mythology and Introductory Latin each Summer, as well as Intermediate Latin when there is sufficient demand. Dr. Martha Davis is also now organizing Summer courses for area high school teachers.
