PASS Leader Employment Opportunities

The Center for Learning and Student Success (CLASS) is not currently accepting applications from undergraduate students who would like to serve as Peer Assisted Study Session (PASS) leaders. PASS leaders design and facilitate weekly study sessions for selected challenging courses. During their sessions, leaders engage learners in collaborative learning activities and model successful study strategies in the classroom.

To be a PASS leader, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student;
  • Earned a grade of B+ or higher in the selected course;
  • Demonstrated experience in peer teaching, facilitation, tutoring and/or leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Ability to participate in new leader training workshops at the beginning of the semester;
  • Ability to attend all lectures for the selected course (ensure lecture times do not conflict with your own class schedule).

Hours & Compensation

PASS leaders earn $12/hour and typically work 8-10 hours per week including preparing lesson plans, running weekly sessions, attending course lectures, and attending mandatory trainings.

PASS Courses

The PASS program is offered for particular courses each semester. The full list of courses with openings for PASS leaders is available at the bottom of this website.

How to Apply

If you are interested in applying for a PASS leader position with the Center for Learning and Student Success, fill out our application form, and attach your resume (or CV) and cover letter.  Application materials should be emailed to Deirdre Kelleher at

Your cover letter should tell us, briefly, a little about you—what interests you in being a PASS leader; your experiences with peer teaching, facilitation, tutoring, and/or leadership; your academic interests; and your involvement in on-campus or off-campus organizations or activities.

The application form asks for the contact information for two faculty references.  Ideally these should be faculty who can speak to your academic skills in the PASS subject area, your general academic engagement, and your ability to work with peers.

Application Deadline

Applications will be reviewed as they are received; the final application deadline has passed.
