Applying to Work as an Office Assistant

Office assistants for the Student Success Center are the first people students and faculty encounter when they enter the tutoring centers. Undergraduate office assistnats work with all Temple students, including both undergraduate and graduate students, whom are seeking academic assistance.

Responsibilities include:


Data Collection Duties

  • Completing initial intake process
  • Verifying that students have created WCOnline accounts

Reception Duties

  • Answering any questions about the Student Success Center policies, services, hours, etc.
  • Assisting students, telephone callers, and visitors
  • Informing tutors that appointments have arrived
  • Informing tutors when drop-ins are waiting

Lab Management Duties

  • Troubleshooting basic computer questions
  • Refilling paper and toner in lab printers
  • Clearing paper james

Office Duties

  • Photocopying commonly used forms and handouts
  • Running errands to campus offices
  • Daily upkeep of tutoring space cleanliness


All office assistants must be undergraduate students with work-study awards. We look for dependable people who are adept at multi-tasking, demonstrate excellent attention to detail, can work with people from diverse backgrounds, and have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

SSC Office Assistant's earn $12/hour and have opportunities for advancement. OA's typically work 5-10 hours per week; the hours are flexible and can be scheduled around other obligations.
