Current Projects
- College-Wide Wireless Project - Installation of 188 Meru access points (APs) has begun and should be complete this August. The new wireless network will replace the current wireless network
comprised of 12 802.11b-only APs and available only in building lobbies. All indoor and the immediately surrounding outdoor areas of Anderson and Gladfelter Halls will have wireless coverage, as well as the CLA areas in Weiss and Ritter Halls plus the Academic Advising Center on the 3rd floor of 1810 Liacouras Walk. Initially the 11 Mbit 802.11b and 54 Mbit 802.11g standards will be supported but we hope to have support for the 54 Mbit 802.11a and 248 Mbit 802.11n networks by the end of 2008. A new less obtrusive security paradigm is also being developed.. - Construction of 23 New Smart Classrooms - During the summer of 2008 a total of 23 CLA classrooms will be upgraded to Level 2 or Level 6 smart classrooms:
- 15 Classrooms in the Anderson Classroom (AC) Wing
- Complete renovations of the Weiss Hall basement, including a 120 seat lecture hall with smart technology, two 60 seat classrooms, and two 20 seat seminar rooms
- Anderson Hall (AB) room 422, a 28 seat seminar room
- Gladfelter Hall room 846, a newly constructed Level 6 smart computer classroom with 30 seats to replace the aging 18 seat Gladfelter 748 computer classroom
- Gladfelter Hall room 230, a newly constructed Level 6 computer classroom will have 13 seats
Project Enterprise - Project Enterprise is a major university-wide initiative to integrate and upgrade all major administrative systems into a consolidated, state-of-the-art database-driven infrastructure based on SunGard's Higher Education Integrated Digital Campus platform.
