CLA Advising Tools

The College of Liberal Arts Advising Center is dedicated to helping students understand their academic requirements, deadlines, and policies of Temple University. Because of this, we have developed this web page of Advising Tools that are designed to help students in each of these areas.

The Advising Center has composed a document outlining the requirements for graduation from the College of Liberal Arts. This document shows the departments within the College of Liberal Arts, the semester hour requirements for graduation, the language requirement, and more. The collegial requirements can be found here.

The Advising Center has developed a brochure of the most frequently asked questions. This brochure is designed to provide students with answers regarding Advising at Temple without requiring an appointment, e-mail, or phonecall. You can access this brochure here.

At Temple University, e-mail is the official means of communication. When using this official means of communication, it is important to follow certain procedures in order to make sure that your message is being conveyed clearly and you are able to receive the quickest response possible. To access these e-mail guidelines, click here. Also, included in this document is information regarding Advising Session Reports.

Each semester, the College of Liberal Arts compiles a document with many of the important dates to remember. This document provides add/drop/withdraw deadlines and processes by which a student may add/drop/withdraw from a course.

  • To view the dates for Fall 2009, click here.
  • To view the dates for Spring 2010, click here.

Registration (Drop/Add/Withdrawal)
Continuing matriculated students in good academic standing (minimum 2.0 GPA in the previous fall or spring semester and cumulative GPA) can register via OWLnet.

All students who have Unsatisfactory Academic Performance must meet with an advisor for registration. Readmitted student must schedule an appointment with an advisor to register for classes. Call 215-204-7971 to schedule.

During the registration procedure, you may encounter circumstances that require special approval and the appropriate approval forms. They also require manual registration by the Academic Advising Center. These include the following: Closed Section Approval, Credit/No Credit, Credit Level, Grade Option (Audit Only), Overload, Special Authorization, and Time Conflict.

Note that no changes will be processed unless the student presents the request in person and waits for processing and a receipt of the transaction.
