Major Advising
Though the Professional Advisors in the Academic Advising Center are available to students throughout their academic careers to help them complete their Core and College requirements, students are urged to meet with the Faculty Advisors in their Major Departments to discuss their Major requirements.
Through contact with departmental faculty, students gain an in-depth appreciation of a specific discipline and discover opportunities associated with their field of interest.

Pre-Graduate School Advising
Many College of Liberal Arts students choose to continue their studies by attending Masters or Doctorate Graduate programs of their choice. While each graduate program has specific admissions requirements, it is recommended that students meet with their Departmental Faculty Advisor for further information. Students should begin planning as soon as their sophomore/junior year.
Pre-Law Advising
Students do not need a particular major in order to apply for admission to Law School. It is recommended that students begin to meet with a Pre-Law advisor during their freshman year. The College of Liberal Arts Pre-Law Advisors are: Dr. Paul Crowe, Associate Chair & Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Philosophy (pcrowe@temple.edu); Dr. Conrad Weiler, Associate Professor of Political Science (weilerc@temple.edu); Elizabeth Reynard, Professional Academic Advisor (ereynard@temple.edu). Please contact Dr. Crowe directly for an appointment; contact the Advising Center at 215-204-7971 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Weiler or Ms. Reynard.
Five-Year BA/Ed.M Secondary Education Teaching Certification Program
The Five-year Program allows CLA undergraduates to obtain a Bachelor's degree while simultaneously pursuing a Master's of Education and a Level I Instructional Certification in Elementary, Secondary, or Special Education.
Students begin graduate level coursework in the College of Education at the beginning of their junior year. Upon completion of their undergraduate degree, students make a seamless transition into the College of Education for one additional year in order to complete the graduate component.
Admission into the program is competitive. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 in their major and overall, and they must have completed a minimum of 36 credits. Since the graduate component begins in the first semester of the junior year, students with more than 60 credits may not be eligible.
The Advisor for this program is Mr. Matthew Badura. Please feel free to contact him at 215-204-7971 or matthew.badura@temple.edu with any questions
