Program Description:

CJTP conducts training programs for Constables in the Southeast region of Pennsylvania under a contract from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (P.C.C.D.).  The Southeast region includes: Delaware, Chester, Montgomery, Bucks, Northampton, Berks, and Lehigh counties.

New Constables who choose to be certified to carry a firearm must complete 40 hours of Basic Firearms Training.  A Basic Firearms class is held at the conclusion of each 80-hour Basic Training.  In order to maintain their firearms certification, Constables are required to complete 20-hours of Advanced Firearms Training each year and pass a qualification course of fire.  Temple C.J.T.P. provides firearms training to approximately 200 Constables each year from February through June.  Advanced Firearms training is conducted at four facilities in the Southeast region located in Bristol, Delaware County, Allentown, and Berks County.
