- Monday: 8am - 12pm
- Tuesday: 10am - 2pm
- Wednesday: 8am - 2pm
- Thursday: 10am - 11:30am; 12 - 1pm
- Friday: 11am - 1pm
General rules
- Please bring all your course materials with you (syllabus, notes, books, assignments, etc.) so that we may better assist you.
- All exchanges between Mentors and students should be conducted in a professional manner.
- Students must bring class materials (syllabus, notes, books, assignments, etc.).
- If you are not sure about something, ask instead of fabricating information.
- Books remain in the center and are not to be borrowed or loaned.
- Cell phones must be placed on silent.
- IPODS and other potential noisemakers are not allowed.
- Students are limited to 10 hours of assistance per semester, unless otherwise requested by their professor.
- Mentors who are sick or unable to cover their shift should notify someone who can hang a sign on the door at their earliest convenience.
- Students who are working on papers and may need continuous assistance may use one of the computer stations during Center hours. Otherwise, the Center is not a study library.
What we do
- Provide help with Criminal Justice courses or GenEd classes that involve Criminal Justice curriculum and are taught by Criminal Justice Faculty.
- Professional assistance - Assist individuals who are interested in graduate school by offering advice on how to choose the right school and editing Curriculum Vitas and personal statements.
- Help students who are writing papers by aiding in formatting, organization, editing, and topic brainstorming. Also, we will demonstrate how to find appropriate peer-reviewed articles for papers or projects.
- Make referrals for appropriate campus services - such as the Disabilities office or Writing Center.
What we don't do
- We will not do students' work or provide answers to homework or exams.
- Mentors will not write papers for students.
- Academic Advising.
- Mediation between students and faculty members.
- Participate in filing grievances or grade reconciliation.
- Provide help on take-home exams.
- Assist students in classes that they are not attending.
- Provide extra review sessions for exams - this is up to professors and their TAs.
- Help students study for professional admittance exams such as the GRE, LSAT, MCAT, etc.
- Administer make-up exams given the possibility for exam material to be open discussion with other students seeking assistance in the center.
