Faculty list server information
Faculty are on a restricted e-mail list server. This list is neither accessible to the general public nor to other University staff or students. However, faculty can send a single message to one e-mail address and it will be distributed to other faculty.
Sending a message to other faculty
To send a message to the other faculty, send an e-mail to:
To successfully send the message, you must be sending from the e-mail address that is on the system. In other words, if I (Jerry) have listed you as using an AOL account, you must send the message from the AOL account.
Changing your e-mail address
If you want to change the e-mail address used for faculty communication, then drop me an e-mail and I (Jerry Ratcliffe) will change the e-mail address on the system, or add your new one (you will get two messages in this case).
Who else is on the list?
Send an e-mail to listserv@listserv.temple.edu and in the text of the message (the subject line is ignore) simply have a line that states:
review cjfaculty
Other commands
You may leave the list at any time by sending a "SIGNOFF CJFACULTY" command to LISTSERV@LISTSERV.TEMPLE.EDU. You can also tell LISTSERV how you want it to confirm the receipt of messages you send to the list. If you do not trust the system, send a "SET CJFACULTY REPRO" command and LISTSERV will send you a copy of your own messages, so that you can see that the message was distributed and did not get damaged on the way.
After a while you may find that this is getting annoying, especially if your mail program does not tell you that the message is from you when it informs you that new mail has arrived from CJFACULTY. If you send a "SET CJFACULTY ACK NOREPRO" command, LISTSERV will mail you a short acknowledgement instead, which will look different in your mailbox directory. With most mail programs you will know immediately that this is an acknowledgement you can read later. Finally, you can turn off acknowledgements completely with "SET CJFACULTY NOACK NOREPRO"
Following instructions from the list owner, your subscription options have been set to "ACK REPRO" rather than the usual LISTSERV defaults. For more information about subscription options, send a "QUERY CJFACULTY" command to LISTSERV@LISTSERV.TEMPLE.EDU.
Contributions sent to this list are automatically archived. You can get a list of the available archive files by sending an "INDEX CJFACULTY" command to LISTSERV@LISTSERV.TEMPLE.EDU. You can then order these files with a "GET CJFACULTY LOGxxxx" command, or using LISTSERV's database search facilities. Send an "INFO DATABASE" command for more information on the latter.
