Stephen Lepore, PhD (UC-Irvine ’91)

Graduate Students

Julie Pranikoff, MA (Hunter College)
Julie is a PhD candidate in the Environmental Psychology program at The Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She received her B.S. from Cornell University and her M.A. from Hunter College. Her Masters Thesis project applied a theory of attention restoration to patients who visited healing gardens set within an urban rehabilitation hospital. Currently, Julie is the project coordinator of Expressive Writing and Adjustment to Colorectal Cancer at the New York study site. She is also preparing to work on her dissertation, which will examine illness narrative creation and how narratives are influenced by the environments in which they are formed.
Stacy Davis, MPH (University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey ’02)
Stacy comes to the SBHI Lab with a BA in Biological Sciences (U Delaware, 2000) and an MPH with an Epidemiology Concentration. Her experiences in public health have primarily addressed racial disparities in cancer, with the goal of promoting cancer screening and an overall healthy lifestyle. In her research, she incorporates culture, socioeconomics, and lifestyle to create interventions that target the health care behavior of minority communities.
Jonathan Vandergrift, BA (Temple University ’02)
Jonathan is enrolled in the Public Health Masters of Science in Epidemiology program. He has a strong interest in exploring environmental and social determinants of health and how these factors influence health disparities. In the lab, Jonathan is involved with the data coordination and analysis surrounding the Decision Making in Prostate Cancer study and also helps with follow-up interviews
Job Godino, BA (Temple University ’07)
Job is a graduate student in the Public Health Department’s Masters in Epidemiology program. As an undergraduate student in Temple University’s Honors Program, Job was a Gilman Scholar and spent his junior year studying human development and environmental sustainability in Costa Rica. His research interests include epidemiology, health disparities, health policy, and international public health. In the lab, Job is primarily involved in data entry, management, and analysis on the Decision Making in Prostate Cancer study, and assisting with other related projects. If you are on Temple’s Campus, Job highly recommends that you grab a bite to eat at the “Crepe Cart”, the pinnacle of food cart cuisine.

Melissa Godfrey, MPH (Columbia University ’05)
Melissa Godfrey is a Project Coordinator the lab. She received her MPH in Sexuality and Health from Columbia University in 2005. Her interests include sexual health, adolescent health, and cancer prevention. She has worked as an HIV test counselor, a sexuality educator, and a health educator. She is still getting to know Philadelphia but especially enjoys exploring Fairmount Park and getting Capogiro's gelato.
Deborah Knorr, MPH (Temple University ’06)
Deborah recently completed Temple University’s MPH program, where she focused on research and applications in International Health, mental and emotional health, and disaster preparedness and response. Within the lab, she will be coordinating the Expressive Writing and Adjustment to Cancer study with colorectal Cancer patients from Temple University Hospital, and assisting with other related projects. She is also taking graduate coursework in Counseling Psychology, and is exploring the relationship between group involvement and quality of life for individuals with a chronic disease.
Amit Nissan
Amit is a junior Undergraduate in Temple University’s Chemistry program. He has a strong interest in research and is working in the lab to gain experience in the design an administration of a large research projects. In addition, working on a public health research project, coupled with his natural science academic background, will provide Amit with a solid foundation with which to pursue his professional goals. In the lab, Amit is primarily involved in data entry and management on the Decision Making in Prostate Cancer study.
