Meet the HBRC:
We thank you for visiting our site. We are part of the Department of Public Health in Weiss Hall on Temple University’s main campus. Follow this link for directions.
The HBRC Faculty, Staff, and Students thank you for visiting our site.
HBRC Mission:
The Health Behavior Research Clinic (HBRC) focuses on the prevention and treatment of behavioral health problems that contribute to physical and mental illness. We aim to develop and evaluate state-of-the-art treatments available to individuals; to disseminate our results to inform policy and to promote the public health impact of existing treatments; and to improve our understanding of biological, psychological, and social factors that contribute to the health behavior change process. The HBRC has particular interest in facilitating access to treatment for underserved and vulnerable groups with unique health risks, such as women and children, minorities, and special patient populations (e.g., asthma, cancer, obesity) (HBRC Projects & Publications). For all HBRC efforts, we are dedicated to advancing behavioral science within a multidisciplinary framework. An extension of the HBRC is the Pediatrics Research Group; a multidisciplinary effort dedicated to research that promotes health, wellbeing, and patient care of children - directed by Drs. Collins, McCoy and Daly.
HBRC Smoking Clinic:
Call 215-204-6598 for information about our treatments. Smokers interested in quitting smoking or cutting down their children’s exposure to second-hand smoke can check out our two large smoking treatment programs. Currently, these programs are provided at no cost, and participants receive compensation for completing our interview evaluations.
HBRC Projects:
The HBRC has ongoing projects relevant to our mission. Researchers, professionals, and students can follow this link to learn about our projects.
HBRC Training:
The HBRC is dedicated to training students as part of our overall mission and the training mission of the Department of Public Health and the College of Health Professions. Student participation in the HBRC mission is highly valued and integral to the dynamics and success of the HBRC. The training mission of the HBRC includes the mentoring of students toward independent clinical and research careers in health psychology, public health, and related fields; and involves sponsoring a journal club (Addictions Brownbag) and seminars with friends of the HBRC within and outside the Temple University community.
