Psychology Internship
Outpatient ServicesAll interns share a year-long minor rotation in our Outpatient clinic. The outpatient clinic provides services including individual and group psychotherapy, psychological and neuropsychological evaluations, and consultation to outpatient medical services. Interns conduct psychological and neuropsychological assessments across a spectrum of patients referred from our hospitals and the surrounding community. Outpatient CaseloadConcurrent with the three major rotations, each intern maintains an active caseload of outpatients (primarily children and adolescents) through the outpatient clinic. The outpatient clinic provides psychotherapeutic and evaluative services to residents of the inner-city community surrounding the hospitals, the University community, and patients from the greater Philadelphia and New Jersey areas. The population ranges in age from 5 to 95 and represents varied diagnostic categories. Interns are expected to carry a caseload of about three psychotherapy patients per week in the outpatient clinic. In this setting, the intern has the opportunity to collaborate with a range of professional colleagues and supervisors, including psychologists, psychiatrists and other medical doctors, residents, and medical students. Outpatient EvaluationsOutpatient psychological, psychoeducational, and neuropsychological evaluations form a portion of the intern's caseload. Referral questions are wide ranging and typically include both neuropsychological and psychological issues, as well as referrals for ADHD and learning disability assessments. |
