Sheryl Burt Ruzek, PhD, MPH
Professor

Dr. Ruzek has written and edited numerous books and articles on women's health issues. Women's Health: Complexities and Differences (with Virginia Olesen and Adele Clarke) was published by the Ohio State University Press in 1997. Recent articles include "The Women Health Movement in the US: From Grass-roots Activism to Professional Agendas" (with Julie Becker); "Rethinking Feminist Ideologies and Actions: Thoughts on the Past and Future of Health Reform" and "Demographic Changes That Impact on Women's Health Over the Life Phases." Currently, she is involved in a US AID funded project to develop public health infrastructure for primary care systems in Kiev, the Ukraine and research on risk communication related to controversial medical technologies. She has been a consultant to the World Health Organization (WHO) and is a trustee of ECRI, the WHO Collaborating Center and AHRQ Evidence-Based Practice Center in Plymouth Meeting. She has served as a consultant to the FDA and many national and state health organizations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and California. Dr. Ruzek received the University's Great Teacher Award and served as Acting Dean of the Graduate School from 2000-2002.
