Sarah Bauerle Bass, PhD, MPH

Dr. Bass teaches undergraduate courses in program planning and evaluation and introduction to health professions. Other areas of expertise include human sexuality, especially in the areas of gender, reproductive technologies and sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV, and in health communications, especially as it relates to the uses of new technology by patient populations. She is currently the Principal Investigator of a National Cancer Institute funded study researching the use of the Internet by newly diagnosed cancer patients who contact the Cancer Information Service. Dr. Bass has presented at both the local and national level on the use of new technologies and their possible effects on patient behavior. She has also been an expert reviewer for publications in the field. She currently consults with Fox Chase Cancer Center in developing research projects aimed at bridging the digital divide.
In addition, Dr. Bass has developed and implemented a number of health education programs, including interventions in the areas of HIV/AIDS, Drug Abuse Prevention and Child Care Education. She has also evaluated programs for the Injury Prevention Program within the Philadelphia Department of Public Health. Dr. Bass is also Adjunct Faculty at Arcadia University's Department of Health Education where she teaches graduate courses in Health Behavior Theory, Human Sexuality, Program Planning and Evaluation and International Health.
