Kristie P. Koenig
PhD, OTR/L

Dr. Koenig earned a B.S. in Occupational Therapy from Elizabethtown College, an M.S. in Occupational Therapy with a specialization in pediatrics from Temple University, and a doctorate in Educational Psychology from Temple University. Her dissertation research examined academic and clinical predictors of entry-level competence. She holds a Certification in Interdisciplinary Approaches to Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect and is Certified in Sensory Integration and Praxis Testing. Dr Koenig is an assistant professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy and teaches entry-level graduate courses in the areas of Human Development, O.T. Theoretical Foundations in Pediatrics, and Clinical Conditions in Pediatrics. In addition, she teaches courses in Advanced Theory and the specialization in Sensory Integration track in the Advanced Masters Program.

Dr. Koenig’s primary research interests include the efficacy of sensory integration treatment, sensory processing and behavioral expressions of temperament, the impact of extremes in sensory and behavioral responsiveness that impact participation, utilization of structural equation modeling to examine theoretical constructs in the field of occupational therapy, and personal narratives of individuals with autism and how that can inform practice, research and education. She co-presents with individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorders in a series of workshops for therapists, educators and direct care providers. Dr. Koenig was recently selected to be a Leadership fellow for a joint project in conjunction with the American Occupational Therapy Association and the American Occupational Therapy Foundation.
