Alexandra L. Hanlon, PhD
Associate Professor

As an Associate Professor, Dr. Hanlon teaches graduate Biostatistics and SAS Programming; she specializes in the facilitation of research by providing statistical support to researching faculty members and graduate students. Dr. Hanlon actively serves on scientific editorial boards and frequently makes presentations at conferences of professional associations to share on-going research and recent findings. She trains researchers in relevant statistical methodologies to enhance their research efforts; she is an active grant-writer and plays a prominent role in institutional grants; she facilitates promulgation of research findings by co-authoring scores of publications that disseminate research findings, assuming responsibility for the statistical evidence and analyses in these publications. Dr. Hanlon has a wealth of collaborative experience in cancer research, with her doctoral research topic in hierarchical mixed effects modeling of PSA levels in men treated with radiation therapy for prostate cancer. She has recently been involved in pharmaceutical drug development research and approval. Dr. Hanlon’s breadth of experience in academia and industry provide her with insight relevant to perspectives unique to educators, clinicians, patients, and society.

Dr. Hanlon is also the Director of the Biostatistics Research Support Center (BRSC). The BRSC offers comprehensive statistical consultation and computational services to faculty, staff, and students in the College of Health Professions and throughout Temple University. BRSC personnel are available for discussion at all stages of research, including preparation of grants and contracts, assistance in analyzing and presenting research data, and statistical review of manuscripts in the publication process.
