EXPERIENCE IN TR:

Hands-on Learning is Key
At Temple, students are offered extensive opportunities to practice what they've learned by working with professionals in the field of therapeutic recreation. As early as the sophomore year, students are given a leadership assignment in a practice setting as part of their academic course work. As juniors they complete a 150 hour internship experience working with clients with disabilities. And in the senior year, students complete a 600 hour internship that involves all aspects of professional responsibility as a recreation therapist. All internship experiences are tailored to the student's personal preferences and professional goals. Before graduation, each student will have completed 750 clock hours of internship training. In addition, each student will have served at least 120 hours as a volunteer in agencies providing therapeutic recreation services
