RESEARCH

The full-time faculty of the Department of Physical Therapy are engaged in many activities. In addition to their teaching, they have diverse research interests, clinical activities, and professional activities. Honors earned by faculty include: the Baethke-Carlin Award for Academic Teaching Excellence, the Lindback Excellence in Teaching Award and the College of Helath Professions Teaching Award. Two of Temple's faculty, Drs. Hack and Shepard, have been distinguished by the American Physical Therapy Association as  Catherine Worthingham Fellows of the APTA. A third, Dr. Barbe, won the CHP Excellence in Teaching Award in 1994. The full-time faculty is ably joined in both lecture and laboratory courses by several area clinicians with proven clinical expertise and by other Temple faculty colleagues in the areas of specialty.

One of the central missions of the Department of the Physical Therapy is "to discover and convey knowledge related to physical therapy." The Department meets this mission through several activities, including supervision of student projects and dissertations, as well the faculty's own research.
