Accreditation:
The Master of Occupational Therapy program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), located at 4720 Montgomery Lane, P.O. Program Retention and time to completion:
The program has a retention rate of 98% for the two year, 67 credit, MOT program.
Fieldwork II is full-time and is done following the successful completion of all course work. All students are required to complete two 3-month placements covering the life span and a variety of disabilities. The six months of full time Fieldwork Level II must be completed within 24 months of completion of academic courses.
Registration and Licensure:
Graduates of the program are eligible to take the national certification examination for the occupational therapist administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Upon successful completion of this exam, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR). Most states require Licensure in order to practice. However, state licenses are usually based on the result of the NBCOT Certification Exam. Once licensed, a person’s credentials are indicated by OTR/L. Please note that a felony conviction may affect a graduate’s ability to take the certification exam or attain state licensure
NBCOT Pass Rate:
The total number of graduates who passed the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification exam as first time takers in years 2005 – 2007 was 41 out of 47 students which is a first time pass rate of 88%. During that 3-year period the program had 47 graduates.
