Two New Faculty to Join CSD   Beginning Fall, 2007, two new faculty members will be joining the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders.   Dr. Gerry Stefanatos is the incoming chiar of Communication Sciences and Disorders.  Currently, Dr. Stefanatos is the Director of the Neuropsychology Laboratory at the Moss Rehabilitative Research Institute.  Dr. Stefanatos is a nationally and internationally recognized scholar in the area of pharmacologic modulation of neuroplasticity of speech processing in post-stroke aphasia. This is part of a research program that utilizes neuroimaging (fMRI and ERP) to study and promote neuroplastic changes resulting from pharmacologic and behavioral treatments of aphasia.  In the past 10 years, Dr. Stefanatos has garnered grant funding (as Principal Investigator, Project Director, or Co-Project Director) from a number of external sources--NIH (NICHD, NIDCD), the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and the Einstein Society.  Dr. Stefanatos will begin his appointment in the Fall, 2007.

Dr. Paula O'Day, CCC-SLP will be a full-time clinical supervisor.  Since 2003, Dr. O’Day has been employed as a speech-language pathologist in the Middleborough Public Schools (Middleborough, MA).  From 1999-2000, she served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Rhode Island.
