Undergraduate Programs - Public Health

The Public Health Core

All Public Health majors take a set of common theoretical courses designed to promote an understanding of health, wellness and disease prevention.  They will study the broad range of public health concerns from individual disease prevention and injury / harm reduction behaviors to organizational and community program development, implementation and evaluation. Public Health Majors typically work in: voluntary health agencies, public health departments, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, corporate worksites, community health organizations, family planning clinics, and managed care facilities, to name a few.

All students must complete the University CORE classes.  The Public Health Major then consists of courses taken in the core disciplines of public health within the Public Health Department and course taken in other important areas outside the Department of Public Health.  The major requires a minimum of 124 total semester hours for graduation.
