Masters of Education

The Master's of Education (Ed.M in School Health Education).

The 33 semester-hour master's program in School Health Education is designed for school personnel (teachers, counselors, nurses) and those working with youth who want to advance their knowledge and understanding of health instruction and counseling. The curriculum teaches from a conceptual model of health promotion and disease prevention. The program incorporates principles of health behavior as well as health counseling.  A background in Public Health as well as an understanding of applied research is also provided.

For admission to the Ed.M. program, a student must:

(1) have earned an undergraduate grade point average of 3.0

(2) have acceptable scores on either the Miller Analogies Test or the

      Graduate Record Examination verbal and quantitative tests

(3) provide three professional/academic recommendations

(4) write a personal or professional goal statement.

The admissions committee may recommend one or more personal interviews. Admission is based on review of all components of the application. Ed.M. applications are considered through out the year.

Exit Requirements
Successful completion of a comprehensive examination is required to complete the program.
