Transition Doctor of Physical Therapy (tDPT)
APPLICATIONS
All required application materials are available at this web site or by regular mail and are due in the Department of Physical Therapy at Temple University according to the following deadlines.
FALL SEMESTER: July 15th
SPRING SEMESTER: November 15th
Students can NOT apply to the tDPT Program to begin coursework during a summer session, but may take ONE class during a summer session without being accepted into the program as a (non-matriculated student).
The STANDARD DOCUMENTATION required for ALL applicants includes:
- Proof of current license in the United States
- An official transcript from the entry-level institution from where you received your physical therapy degree (this includes ALL Temple graduates) **
- Resume
- Two Reference Reports from clinical colleagues (one of whom is a supervisor)
- Statement of personal goals
**Please Note: ONLY applicants from Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) are eligible for admission. To determine if the program from which your graduated has received CAPTE accreditation, click on the following link APTA | CAPTE.
SUPPLEMENTAL DOCUMENTATION
Applicants who have entry-level master’s degrees and who are NOT graduates of Temple’s MPT program will need to provide:
Course descriptions for their entry-level program at the time the course was taken by the applicant. These course descriptions may be found in course syllabi, or in University Bulletins. The University Bulletin is a document of record, generally available from the University registrar, the University library, or at the University’s web site.
The transition Doctor of Physical Therapy Admissions Committee has already reviewed many non-DPT entry-level professional curricula from across the country. As a result, if your entry-level academic institution appears on the list of projected tDPT Program requirements and you have graduated or completed appropriate graduate level course within the 10 Year Currency Limit, you do not need to send us further materials.
Applicants who have entry-level baccalaureate or certificate preparation and the completion of a non-Physical Therapy Masters degree will need to provide a completed Student Assessment Form of curricular needs. The form is designed to help assess whether your practice activities, previous graduate education, any clinical specializations, and any organized instructional experiences have helped you met the waiver requirements for any of the non-CORE courses.
Evidence to support the Student Assessment form should include:
- Transcripts and course descriptions for any graduate courses you wish to use
- Proof of clinical certification. If other than ABPTS certification, provide a description of the certification program.
- Course syllabi with a description of your role as an instructor in the courses.
APPLICATION FEE
There is an application processing fee for the Temple University transition Doctor of Physical Therapy Program of $65.00. The application check should be made payable to Temple University for $65.00 and must be mailed directly to Temple University.
