Equipment |
The
equipment in the Department is generally available
for use by all graduate students and faculty.
Usually, it is maintained by a particular research
group or one of the Departmental Technicans.
The operation and care of equipment is considered
integral to the education of graduate students.

| Ultrafast
Lasers
- The department
has one of the largest collections of ultrafast
lasers, based on Ti:sapphire Oscillators
and Regenerative Amplifiers, as well as
Optical Parametric Amplifiers, in the Mid-Atlantic
region. These laser are used in CAPR
and the Borguet,
Dai,
Levis,
and Stanley
groups.

| Computer
Facilities |
| The
Chemistry Department has its own computing laboratories
with several Silicon Graphics and Sun workstations
as well as Mac and PC facilities. The Department
is networked with central university computing
facilities which include IBM and Digital mainframe
equipment. |
The
Chemistry Library |
All
materials contained in the Chemistry collection
are housed in Paley
Library , the Library Depository, and the
Science,
Engineering and Architecture (SEAL) Library
.
Temple's library system employs state-of the
art technology and provides access to more than
3 million volumes, 27,000 journal subscriptions,
more than 350 electronic research databases,
and over 10,000,000 original manuscripts and
photographs. |
Additional
Facilities |
The
Department has excellent facilities for analytical
and preparative gas and high pressure liquid
chromatography and is serviced by a very fine
storeroom. There is a full-time support staff
of several research and computer technicians
who maintain the major instruments within the
Department. The Chemistry Department also maintains
a well-equipped and well-staffed glassblowing
shop. |
